Help for Young Carers

What is a young carer?

A young carer is someone who helps someone in their family. It might be your mum, dad, brother, sister, grandparent or someone else you love.

You might help by:

  • Cooking or tidying up
  • Going shopping
  • Giving medicine
  • Talking to someone when they feel sad
  • Helping with everyday things

If you do some of these things, you might be a young carer. And that means you can get help.

BCP Council's Young Carers Services are here to help you. They will listen to you and help you right the right support.

Who can get help?

You can get help if:

  • You are between 5 and 18 years old
  • You help someone in your family who is unwell or needs extra help
  • You feel tired, worried or find school or friends hard because of your caring

What help can you get?

They can:

  • Talk with you one-to-one
  • Invite you to groups with other young carers
  • Help you with school
  • Give advice to your family

They want you to feel happy, safe and supported.
