Woman and man with a learning disability

Learning Disabilities Carer Representation Service

If you’re an unpaid carer for someone with a learning disability, the Learning Disabilities Carer Representation Service is here to help you have your voice heard.

This service is run by Minstead Trust and commissioned by BCP Council. It gives family carers the chance to shape local services and share their experiences with BCP Council and the NHS.

What You Can Do Through This Service:

  • Share your experiences to help improve local support.
  • Connect with other family carers for advice and encouragement.
  • Stay up to date on learning disability services and local changes.
  • Join the Family Carers Forum on Zoom to raise issues and talk about what matters to you.
  • Hear from guest speakers, including people from Adult Social Care, NHS Dorset, local councillors, and charities.
  • Get regular updates, including meeting notes, consultations, and co-production opportunities.
  • Take part in a way that works for you—there’s no pressure to attend every meeting. You can also give feedback by email or phone.
