Carers Assist

If you support someone who lives with you and might need help during the day or night, Carers Assist can give you peace of mind. It’s a free service for unpaid carers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and it works through any piece of BCP Lifeline equipment.

Carers Assist uses a pager that links to Lifeline sensors and devices around the home. If the person you support needs help, the pager will alert you - so you’ll know straight away, as long as you’re in the same house.

How it works

You can connect the pager to different types of Lifeline equipment, such as:

  • a pressure mat under a mattress to let you know if someone has got out of bed at night
  • a door sensor to alert you if someone leaves a room or the house

There are also other solutions available, which can be discussed with the Lifeline team when they visit you. They’ll help you find the right setup for your situation.

This service is free for carers when the pager is used on its own, not through a telephone connection. You can still have other Lifeline equipment installed if you wish, but you would need to pay for these. More information can be found on our Assistive Technology page.
