Holiday lodge breaks

Please note: This page is here to share information about the Holiday Lodge breaks. We’re currently pausing new applications while we review the application form. Updates will be shared in future newsletters, so please keep an eye out. If you’re not yet signed up to receive them, you can find out more about joining the Carers Information Service.

We have two lodges offering breaks for carers: one in Devon and one in Weymouth. These lodges are available to carers looking after someone who pays Council Tax to BCP Council.

Devon

"The view from the balcony – peace and tranquillity. Respite from the life of a carer – felt ‘Normal’ for the first time in a long time. A much needed break – thank you."
- Carer feedback

Situated in a grassed, gated area overlooking St Mary's Bay, you can enjoy wonderful views from the comfort of the veranda, which has a table and chairs.

The lodge includes:

  • A double bedroom with en-suite shower
  • A twin bedroom
  • A bathroom with a bath
  • A large living and dining area
  • A fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances

It sleeps up to five people, including a fold-out 'z' bed.

Weymouth

"Sitting on the decking watching the sunset – lovely and peaceful. It’s well-equipped for disabilities and for wheelchairs."
- Carer feedback

This lodge overlooks Chesil Beach in a peaceful holiday park.

It includes:

  • A double bedroom with en-suite wet room, toilet, and sink
  • A twin bedroom with en-suite wet room, toilet, and sink
  • A large living and dining area
  • A fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances, including a dishwasher and washing machine

It sleeps up to four people.

The veranda has a table, chairs, and parasol.

Accessibility Features

The Weymouth lodge has extra features to support people with access needs. Priority will be given to those who need them:

  • Ramped access and low thresholds at the entrance and balcony doors
  • Wide corridors and internal doors suitable for wheelchairs
  • Grab rails in the wet rooms and a portable carer's shower screen
  • A movement detector that switches on the wet room light when someone gets out of bed
  • A hearing loop in the living/dining/kitchen area
  • A riser recliner chair in the living room
  • Mattress toppers on one of the single beds and the double bed

Please note: there is no hoist at the lodge, and there isn’t space for a mobile one.

How to apply for a holiday lodge break

We’re currently pausing new applications while we review the application form and process. This is to make sure everything is fair, inclusive, and accessible for everyone who provides support to others.

If you’re interested in future breaks, please keep an eye on our newsletters for updates. If you’re not yet signed up to receive them, you can find out more about joining the Carers Information Service.

Cost of the holiday lodge breaks

There’s a £10 per night booking fee.

You’ll need to arrange and pay for your own travel and any trips while you’re there.

Most park facilities are free to use during the season. There’s a small charge for using the leisure facilities at the Weymouth lodge.

Staying at the lodges

Breaks run from Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday.

The holiday parks and their facilities are open from March to October or November.

Pets aren’t allowed at either lodge.
